Words: 647

Essay

General Purpose: To inform.

Specific purpose: To inform people about the necessity of participating in voluntary work.

Thesis: Although participating in voluntary work does not come with instant benefits, it carries social and health gains to participating individuals.

Introduction

  1. Attention Getter: According to Robinson and Seagal (2020), volunteering does not only benefit people who are in need but also the community involved and participating individuals. Volunteering also acts as a learning field where people can obtain new skills necessary for personal growth.
  2. Reason to Listen: Many people consider volunteering to only carry benefits to individuals receiving help, but in a real sense, it is an advantage for participating individuals.
  3. Thesis Statement: Although participating in voluntary work does not come with instant benefits, it carries social and health gains to participating individuals.
  4. Credibility Statement.
  5. Volunteering is a beneficial activity in the community.
  6. Much information is available about volunteering and its importance, which is necessary for knowledge.
  7. Preview of Main Points.
  8. First, I will discuss the importance of volunteering.
  9. I will also focus on the necessity to participate in volunteering works.

Volunteering is not only an act of help but also carries hidden benefits with it

  1. There exist many volunteering opportunities, some of which lack participants; therefore, people must identify its importance.
  2. According to Willems and Baert (2017), volunteer work has a close relationship with beneficial health outcomes. One of the benefits of volunteering is that it enhances self-esteem and efficacy and also creates a path for social integration, which has a significant impact on individual health (Kim and Morgul, 2017).
  3. Volunteering does not act as a benefit to individuals receiving help but also provides a chance for personal growth. Through volunteering, a person can learn new skills that can benefit fit them in other areas that are of financial help. Volunteering also creates a chance for connecting with other people in a community, some of whom can offer great connections in work and social matters. Volunteering provides a field for social connections where people can overcome issues affecting them, such as depression and anxiety (Proulx et al., 2017). Generally, volunteering enhances personal mental health. However, there exist barriers that hinder many people from volunteering. Most people prefer to engage in paid work by having the perception that it is more beneficial. At times it might be difficult to abandon personal commitments to engage in voluntary work.
  4. People believe that voluntary work has preservation for individuals who lack a steady income source (Kelemen et al., 2017).
  5. It is necessary for people to engage themselves in voluntary works as it does not only benefit those receiving help but also acts as a field of growth for participating individuals through the learning of new skills and engagement with other people in a community.
  6. On having an insight into the presented topic, it is an expectation that people will have more involvement in voluntary activities.
  7. I have the belief that all assumptions presented are correct.

Conclusion

In conclusion, people must participate in voluntary activities not only to benefit those receiving help but also for their gain. I came to this conclusion because many people believe that volunteering does not carry any benefits for them; therefore, they ignore the roles. My solution is sustainable as more people participating in voluntary work means an increase in benefits realized by those receiving help. Participating individuals will also identify great health benefits and personal growth.
