Impressed by a Woman, Essay Example

Essay

Johnny had been working at Heavenly Scents for a year now.  He put away shipments, watered the flowers in the cooler, made certain that there were sufficient supplies, arranged the window displays attractively, kept the inside and outside premises clean, and delivered the flowers to their destinations. His wages were slightly above average for his job; and he even received paid sick leave, statutory holidays, and vacations.  He got along well with the boss and his assistant.  The work provided sufficient variety..  Johnny enjoyed his work—especially the delivery part..  He often wished that he had someone to whom to send flowers, but nobody had captured his attention and interest for some time.  Then he saw her.

The lady in red was just entering the shop—with the greatest ease and grace—as Johnny was coming up to the counter to relieve the florist’s assistant.  Such beauty he had not seen for a long time.  She did not go to the florist for assistance, but to him!  As their eyes locked and he heard her clear, well-spoken gentle voice coming through something like a haze, Johnny was

completely mesmerized.  The lady bought a dozen carnations for which she paid cash, thus leaving no clue as to how Johnny could contact her.  He had found someone to whom he would love to send flowers, but did not know the address.  Then, with great finesse, Johnny took a long stem deep red rose and gave it to her—along with his card—saying, “Please call me if I can be of any further help to you.”  She replied, “Thank-you, I will.”
