Pages: 1

Words: 268

Essay

Other types of events/incidents when it would be appropriate to use an Incident command structure and reasons.

The principles in the incident command system outlined are suggestive that it does not necessarily have to respond to emergencies even though these might be rather important to the community. They are operations, planning, logistics and finance. One event where the command could be implemented relates to fairs. To ensure safety the operations must establish measures that would make the place safe. Therefore, and operations manager must be appointed to maintain order at the fair. Next is planning. A plan must be in place to address injuries and occurrences such as fights which can occur. Robberies are likely to happen since fairs attract large crowds.

In working out logistics at gatherings such as fairs and parties the operations manager has to determine if the crowd capacity is compatible with the size of the building in evaluating safety and needs of the persons present at the event. Buildings usually have a capacity level. When operation managers disregard the capacity level this compromises the level of safety for everyone in the building itself and surrounding environment.

With respect to parties and fairs a logistic consideration relations to the type of beverages being consumed and the composition of the crowd. If alcohol is being consumed then supervision of crowd behavior should be taken into account when the logistics are evaluated. The final principle mentioned is finance. The incident command system nees money for its execution, For example, the operations manager has to be paid for his/her duties at an event. Therefore when planning a budget become mandatory.
