There is a set of indispensible elements that aid in the formulation and implementation of healthy and effective schooling strategies and policies. The positive school culture is one of them; due to the formation of the supportive, appropriate school culture both teachers and students obtain conditions under which they can continuously develop and grow, become qualified specialists and get full awareness of their career perspectives. It is essential to underline that the positive school culture is meant for both the educators and educated, since the schooling process takes place in a reciprocal, homogeneous and dialogical manner.

The individual-based compensation strategies widely implemented in the working schools nowadays already reveal their negative consequences produced on the staff of schools. Some of them include perverse and inert incentives deriving from the payment scheme making some staff members uninvolved in the development and innovation process. In addition, the educational community now witnesses the impact of the fringe pay, pension and labor markets on the engagement in the educational work, and formation of the teachers’ commitment to the educational establishment. These practices are unacceptable and should be avoided and maximally eliminated from the present-day practice. They prevent the formation of a positive school culture due to the individual interests moved to the forefront of the educational process.

The way out may be borrowed from the popular business practices that have long ago abandoned the individual-based compensation strategies preferring aggregate compensation instead. The team-based rewards are found to be more motivating, so the projects initiated by teachers and administrators, various initiatives and creative incentives within the borders of the school may be encouraged by such techniques. In addition, aggregate payment models are known to raise pay satisfaction and reduce the inducement to leave the workplace. Hence, the value of aggregate payment may be enormous for the educational system, and for the formation of a positive school culture as well.
