Inman’s War, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 334

Essay

Humanity is one issue that is vital in the life among the people. Having a heart of humanity is more of a gift to many people that need to be utilized in assisting those who are in dire need. This means having the urge to help others whenever they are in problems. It also means being real to others and helping them in times of need not minding whether there exists any relationship between you and them. Sergeant Inman Perkins is one man who demonstrated this aspect of humanity. Inman was a sergeant in the signal construction unit of U.S. Army Air Corps, who fought their enemies and helped the civilians who were affected by the war. He risked his men to go over the bombed rubbles so as to assist the survivors especially when they saved the Italians (Jeffrey 16).

His battalion mission was mainly to build rather than destroying, where they endured all risks of the combat forces. This did not only show the patriotism but also how caring they were. The Inman’s unit went to the extent of crossing the border to some miles of a foreign country from where they were stationed in Texas, so as to help the civilians who were there and for them to feel the sense of equality and freedom (William). This clearly demonstrates the humanity character of people. This character by sergeant Inman clearly demonstrates how human beings are supposed to live with others and serve them without caring the tribe or even the country of origin. Humanity has no boundaries and everybody is a human being who needs to be assisted when need arises, as it was clearly demonstrated by Sergeant Inman with his unit during the war. Humanity goes to the extent of being patriotic to ones country without being egocentric at any moment.
