Integrated Learning & Adult Learning, Essay Example

Understanding integrated/ adult learning and its relationship to being successful in meeting the requirements of my capstone class is essential. For example, as it relates to my capstone project integrated learning would first allow me to apply all that was learnt from a number of courses/classes into resolving the selected issue or problem. Specifically, if the issue relates to learning disabilities among school aged adolescents, integrated learning would engage researching a number of other disciplines. These may include growth and development; health assessments; family history studies along with a study of the social environment.

Importantly, integrated learning has emerged from integrative theory, which assumes that integrated lessons facilitate students’ grasp of connections between and among concepts. With reference to this issue pertaining to adolescent learning disabilities,lessons in growth and development would enable me to relate learning disabilities to students’ growth and development in understanding how dysfunctions were affected by growth and development issues. Further, if one is to examine the adolescent social environment valuable data could be retrieved in determining some pre-disposing factors responsible for the learning disability.

Further, this integrated approach to learning would enable me to clarify the problem/issue in arriving a solution relevant to the socio-psychologicaldimension of the problem. Consequently, my understanding of integrated learning would benefit both me and the persons with whom I intend to work while completing this capstone project. From a broader perspective integrated learning to my mind means collaboration of disciplines in application of learning strategies .This is my interpretation of integrated/adult learning and how these relate to my being successful in meeting the requirements of this Capstone class.
