Intelligent Design seeks to offer explanation to assert the fact that the existence of phenomena in its natural appearance is not a as a consequence of natural evolutionary forces but as a product of superior powers that had a design and the design was carefully implemented to an effect of producing the results we witness as products of a process. Darwin viewed evolution as a natural gradual process that took place over time to produce the results as seen today of a varied complex group of organisms on the earths surface ( All about science). Darwin viewed natural selection as a process through which the organisms developed into what they are today through systemic adaptation and organ specialization. According to Darwin therefore evolution stemmed from an assumption that life developed from non life through naturalistic and seemingly accidental developments and evolved into what it is today. This as, Behe pointed out is not a complete explanations of existence of organisms, students therefore should be given and opportunity to explore the likelihood of there being other explanations through the study of intelligent design.
The scientist who believe in intelligent design have pointed out facts that should be put into consideration in deciding whether evolution really holds all the answers to the existence of phenomena as it is today.
Behe M, in explaining the, Intelligent Design, gave out the following arguments. One the black box phenomena that was used by Darwin to explain as a mysterious occurrence is not demystified by evolution scientists hence leaving gaping holes in their theory. The other fact is the existence of highly sophisticated organelles at the molecular level; these give weight to the argument that there was great care taken in developing these models that are operating at this level. Finally many molecular biologists have explained the working of the cell at the genetic level but none has explained the actual origin of these structures. Most important is the fact that these theories build on cell organelles and develop them through evolution. It is a logical assumption that these were designed to be so (Action bioscience).
Miller Refutes Behe’s stand by stating that there is no biochemical evidence of intelligent design and that the evolution chose from these and developed them. Miller further states that the intelligent design takes effect at the different cell systems, this he states makes evolution the way of choice through which different cell organs were assembled. He further states that Behe’s arguments are philosophical and not scientific stating that the scientist who have studied cellular systems have rendered the functioning of organisms at the molecular level as enough explanation for evolution. In an effort to unravel the mysteries that surround the origin of phenomena as explained by Behe Intelligent design should be taught to give students a clearer appreciation of phenomena as it exists.
In my conclusion, intelligent design should be taught in schools. My central argument is that, intelligent design is the only way to explain the origin of phenomena as it is today to studying it in public schools will help the students appreciate the existence of nature as it is. The argument is propped up by these two considerations. Every organism and phenomena that exists on the surface must have been design and purposed to be the way it is. Secondly no organisms existence has been explained as having started from nothing through evolution science.
Mu argument is therefore based on these two premises
- a) The study of science has not enabled man to create or mimic conditions that can enable evolution to recur There are no evolution theories to explain the existence of complex phenomena at its most minute form that is the cell
- b) The fact that organisms even at their most simple forms or at cellular or sub cellular level remain complex too complex to have happened by mere chance or by circumstances as explained by Darwin’s theory of evolution.
In Order to explain these complex occurrences, intelligent design should be studied in public schools to broaden the student’s understanding of phenomena.
