Abstract
The summer is coming to an end, but many of us did not have a single chance to make an interesting and useful summer trip. Now, at the end of the summer, tourist agencies provide an array of opportunities and possibilities for traveling. The world opens itself to our eyes, and we often find ourselves torn between different travel offers. Should we travel across the country? Or, should we rather choose a cheap but an interesting visit to a foreign country? Is it better to go to the sea, or is it better to choose sightseeing? All these questions often remain unanswered, and as we move to the point of making a single and the most relevant decision, we have but to recognize that this summer may leave us without a single chance to make an unforgettable trip.
Introduction
The fact is that the current market of tourism and traveling is highly competitive. More and more firms enter the market, trying to establish themselves as reliable and loyal travel agents. Some of them offer exotic tours; others provide customers with unique traveling opportunities within the country. All travel agencies and firms claim being the best and the most reliable partners in traveling, but beyond that, each travel agency votes for its own specific traveling destination, depending on the profitability and convenience of the discussed traveling tour. In this situation, as a potential consumer, I feel that I am being between different traveling options. I do not know whether I should choose an interesting sightseeing trip in my country, or should I go to the sea and spend a wonderful week lying on the beach? Should I look for an interesting traveling opportunity abroad? In this difficult situation, information and the process of evaluating this information will play a crucial role in my choosing the place for traveling.
First of all, I should limit my choice to several specific traveling destinations. These will help me systematize my information search and will give me better opportunities for making a relevant and grounded choice. Second, I will limit my search and analysis to several travel agencies. In this process, I will seek to answer the three essential questions: (1) is it difficult to obtain visa? (2) is it an expensive tour? and (3) is it worth visiting? These questions will shape the general picture of every tourist destination I choose. Also, it will show the level of attractiveness of each place I am willing to visit, and this level of attractiveness (the combination of cost and conditions of crossing the border and living) will finally lead me to choose one single tourist destination for this summer. Third, I will also search the Internet on the subject of the most recent and updated information about these countries / destinations. I am willing to evaluate the extent, to which traveling to these countries and destinations can be dangerous for my health and life. Also, I am willing to read other travelers’ opinions and experiences. The Internet can also help me define the most attractive destinations, hotels, sightseeing places, etc. Finally, professional tourism and travel printed journals and magazines can provide me with some information about the most popular places for traveling this summer.
Certainly, in this array of information sources, their reliability and validity should be taken into account. Travel agencies often promote specific traveling destinations, which for them stand out as the most profitable and easy to organize; this, however, does not mean that they are the best and the most appropriate for the traveler. In this context, it is important for me to evaluate the reliability of the firm itself. The more reliable, well-known and reputable the firm is, the more likely it is to show the growing customer commitment and to prioritize customer needs over the needs of the firm. Professional magazines and printed journals also look like a reputable source of interesting and reliable information about traveling – the validity of printed journal articles is almost always beyond any doubts. The Internet is overfilled with mixed and confusing information about traveling. Numerous websites provide dubious and rather ambiguous information about different countries, but when trying to evaluate the general safety and security of countries and destinations I want to visit, I will pay primary attention to .gov and .org websites, which provide official information and can potentially secure me from possible disappointments and traveling failures. When it comes to looking for primary traveling information, government websites look like the most reliable Internet option: such websites can provide information regarding the list of documents required to cross the border; possible limitations and fines; the basic state establishments and embassies, etc.
This information I will use to weigh all pros and cons of each tourist destination in my list. I will create a printed table, which will help me prioritize specific destinations. The table will contain information about the cost, sightseeing attractiveness, safety, possible problems with crossing the border, and some individual traveling notes. Also, I will list the traveling agencies according to their reputation and reliability. With the help of this table, I will be able to structure all information in a way that will help me make a relevant choice. I will also be able to use this table in future – for the tourist destinations I do not choose this year but may visit next summer. Our lives are full of unexpected events, but we can certainly prepare ourselves to meet these challenges. Traveling is a unique opportunity to see other countries and places, but when tourists lack relevant and important information, traveling may potentially turn in a completely disappointing experience. I am confident that my strategy will work to save my traveling experience from unpleasant situations. It may also help others create an ideal picture of their future vacation.
Conclusion
Traveling provides us with unique experiences, but as more and more firms enter the market, consumers are lost in the array of traveling opportunities and destinations. To make sure that traveling does not turn out to be unpleasant experience, potential travelers should gather as much information about possible tourist destinations, as they can. This information should be evaluated according to its reliability and validity. The information should also be structured in a way that helps make a grounded choice. This simple strategy will secure future travelers and tourists from potential dangers and unexpected challenges during vacation.
