Essay

The following analysis will be conducted with consideration of the computer industry in Israel compared to the United States.

Industry and Production:

Large Internet companies, such as Google and Facebook due to the computer accessibility present in the United States. As a consequence, Internet companies have been able to make a large sum of money in this area. While the market for selling and producing computers is primarily centered in the United States, other countries are currently building firms in order to establish dominance in this market sector. Israel is a newly formed nation that is hoping to make strides in computing innovation.

Target Culture

Israel and the United States have several similarities due to their relationship during history, but there are some key differences that should be considered.

While it is important to consider the monetary differences that exist between the two countries, the computer business is not concerned with the extent of Internet access, provided that there is an ability to improve existing hardware. Since the two countries are considered technologically capable, this difference between the two nations is somewhat negligible.

Target Audience:

Although almost everyone uses computers, it is important to create an outreach to individuals living in more deserted areas. Therefore, computers can be introduced to the small populations living in the desert towns such as the Negev (Kellerman). An additional target audience is individuals in cities that currently use outdates computers. Therefore, it is essential to target age groups that have the potential for becoming technologically savvy, such as those between ages 8 and 64. It is likely that all other populations would not be capable of manipulating the complex equipment.

Implications

To ensure that Israel is able to compete with the United States, it needs to implement effective information engineering techniques and can use the United States as a model. However, it needs to create its own version of currently popular computers in order to ensure that it has a marketable product. Therefore, businesses in the country need to create and optimize a system that is able to connect to the Internet quickly and store a lot of data in a manner that will keep up with modern computing needs. To enhance this process, these businesses could start building software that would be compatible only with these new systems in order to outcompete the monopoly that Windows currently holds on software.

When the business starts getting business due to customer who become interested in the product, it must consider that the standards that have been set by businesses in the United States which use measurements using the U.S. dollar and using the standard system of measurement. The company will therefore need to convert these measurements into the metric system of measurement in addition to the pound in order to effectively determine how the business they have compares to that of businesses in the United States, which should be set as a goal for comparison.

It is important for Israeli companies to consider that the software and hardware they develop should be available in more languages than just Hebrew, since this language is not that widespread (Abadi). They should include programs in at least English and Mandarin to ensure that they are able to gain maximal outreach.
