Essay

Leadership is a very important process by which a person takes the initiative to make a difference in the lives of many [may it be as directed or a personal choice]. Not everyone is a leader, but every individual has the capacity to be one; given the right instructions and the right guidance for personal growth and development, a person can be the best version of what he is and furthermore, he could be an inspiration to all others. Nevertheless, leadership is not an easy task to accomplish. In lieu of this matter, this internship seminar class has taken me to a whole new understanding of what leadership is and how it basically relates to me and that of the profession I hope to master in.

Interpersonal Influence Behavior

One element of leadership that has changed my outlook about myself is that of the lesson on Interpersonal Influence Behavior. Little did I know that my attitude and my behavior reflects so much of my inner being that also influences the way others think and respond to me accordingly. In this lesson, I realized how interpersonal relations affect my whole capacity to become a leader who is able to motivate others into becoming the best that they are.

Autocratic Leadership

Another lesson that affected me was that of the concept of autocratic leadership. Individuals adapting the autocratic style need to be careful enough to not impose too much pressure on the people who they want to take effect on that their leadership styles become rather extensive of their goals pushing on too much on the level of concentration they have on the concept of direct they make on others.

Interpersonal Influence

The interpersonal influence form of leadership gives me a better sense of what I am and what I could be in the future. Having the capacity to face conflicts, I think I could relate well to this form of leadership as it allows me to shape others based on the interpersonal connections I have on the team members I am working with.

Other Forms of Leadership

The analyzing style of leadership taught me how to be cautious enough in handling crucial situations.  The supporting style of leadership gave me an idea on how I ought to take note of the situation of others and how I could extend myself to them. True to its sense, leadership does take different form of development in every individual depending on the behavior that they have and the vision that their goals are dependent upon.

Overall Reflection

I have realized through this course process that when it comes to leading, I ought to know my strengths and weaknesses before I could ever make a practical refreshing impact to those whom I shall lead. Through the different activities that were taken into account during the full stretch of this learning period, I was not only given the chance to understand the course of my learning, but has actually allowed me to become more passionate in making the changes and the forms of application that I ought to give attention to as I handle the need to deal with others as I apply distinct leadership skills as needed.
