Interview and Interdisciplinary Issue Identification, Essay Example

Essay

I work as a nurse at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. I work as a circulating nurse in the neurosurgery department in the clinic.  For this interview, I spoke with another nurse in the department of endocrinology and diabetes department. As a nurse in diabetes, they are tasked to ensure patient safety during patient care during any procedure during patient therapy. The nurse also agrees to document patient progress and notes the medications the doctors and senior medical professionals. Also, she takes calls on behalf of the nurse in charge in cases of emergencies. While I was interviewing the other RN nurse, I asked about some issues she had come across in the recent past that could be fixed with an interdisciplinary approach, and she gave out a perfect guide;

Mayo Clinic is a well-structured and great organization in its leadership in patient care, education, and research. Hundreds of challenges have pinned the concept of leadership inpatient care in the million-dollar facility (Hiatt et al., 2016). The high number of innovations and digital progress has quickly extended its effects on clinical expertise and research. Re-investing its millions of cash in people and facilities, and communities to help drive its core initiatives to cure, connect, and transform healthcare plans.

The organization’s leadership relates critically to global patient care. They serve the purpose of leading necessary changes in healthcare to inculcate and benefit global healthcare. Through its leadership, it is noted that they have a platform to build an AI and machine learning model set to gain insight from data and establish a new form of solving complex medical issues, developing a new treatment, and improving patient care.  The organization structure generates a comprehensive and broad employee involvement in career development and decisions and encourages the pre-decision consensus. By this, we can tell that poses the strategy to solve the issue of digital transformation. The leadership concepts involve the concept of collaboration by understanding the significance of the proposed modification of different organization sections.

Considering the procedures adapted from the strategies and plans used as solutions to certain digital transformation areas. Kurt Lewin established a change theory model that involves three steps; unfreezing, change, freezing (Hussain et al., 2018). That helps identify the perception of the required changes, the steps towards the change, and finally, locking the change. These changes are critical and significant to the interdisciplinary team to plan and implement the change required. The nurses need to understand the impact of digital transformation on nursing care through leadership.

The considerable change plan is the Plan- Do- Study- Act process. This model is useful in ensuring the digital transformation is realized. The model also improves healthcare quality by making it safer, efficient, timely, effective, and equitable (McGowan & Reid, 2018). These attributes ensure effective communication and empowerment to accept the new strategies to work with. The organization will go back to its stability if the change plan to inculcate digital transformation among the nurses works well. The PDSA cycle can be the most efficient and effective model that helps collect data and advocate collecting the required data to inform the future concept of a similar model.  The models mentioned help minimize resistance once the change is implemented.

A small intervention cycle helps increase confidence in the art of change by incremental modification and refinements (Leis & Shojania, 2017). All the sources used in this paper are credible and scholarly articles.
