I first became interested in finance during high school but my interest only grew further in the aftermath of the 2007 financial crisis. The financial crisis was a reflection of the fact that global economies have become more closely integrated with each other and the financial sector continues to evolve due to changing nature of technologies and competition. This inspired me to pursue my undergraduate degrees in both finance and international business.

But I also understood the importance of real-world experience, thus, I didn’t wait to graduate from college before starting my professional career and by the time I graduated, I had already accumulated about a year of experience in the financial sector. This also reflects my commitment to continuous education and my desire to constantly improving my skills and knowledge.

During my internship and consulting experiences at UBS, I didn’t only analyze financial metrics and carried out due conduct but also interacted with clients. My responsibilities also included preparing reports and making presentations to management team. In addition, I was responsible for identifying and investigating areas of concern and make recommendations to improve branch performance. My financial and soft communication skills led to full-time job offer and I joined UBS as Wealth Planning Analyst upon completing my undergraduate degree.

In my new position, I worked closely with management to identify new revenue streams in the area of wealth management and worked closely with clients to develop appropriate financial plans to suit their specific goals and needs. I also worked with the financial advisors to better meet the needs of the clients. Later I moved to Business Acquisition and Integration area where I was responsible for evaluating the operations of the company including banking and portfolio investments and develop strategies to improve integration of core processes as well as reduce risks.

I have had a very fulfilling career at UBS but I am always looking for greater challenges. My performance reviews at UBS as well as testimonials from my superiors will only confirm my passion for learning and my desire to push myself to the limits in order to realize my true potential. I will not only bring strong technical skills to the table but have also developed soft skills such a communication, leadership, teamwork, critical thinking, and analytical skills. Working with different stakeholders has helped me become more objective thinker and evaluate facts from different perspectives.

My learning is not only limited to workplace but I also take the initiatives to learn and expand my thinking horizon outside professional life. Professional networking is extremely important to me and in addition, I also read business and financial publications as well as research studies to have a better idea of the emerging ideas and trends in the field of finance. One of the areas that have specifically caught my attention is behavioral finance because it helps me better understand the behaviors of the market participants at individual and macro levels.
