Is Skepticism the Only Valid Belief System? Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 282

Essay

In my opinion skepticism cannot be the only valid belief system in the world. The operative and qualifying concept is valid. Skepticism could be interpreted as pessimism as well meaning that this type of belief is based on the assumption that any situation presented in a context of belief has an underlying negative feature that will ultimately emerge. For example, politicians used skepticism to undermine proposals made in parliament for the good of people, but on many occasions there is no basis for this skepticism. Essentially, it is merely a political strategy to derail a decision for the betterment of society. Therefore, the opposite of skepticism must be another belief force, which shows the positive side of situations presented for public benefit.

It  appears that skeptics would never agree on any issue and find some illogical reasons to do so. No one could convince them otherwise. If we are to examine two recent pieces of legislations; one the president had to take an executive action to enforce. Skeptics have taken him to court on the premise that giving these people work permits would create financial hardships for the skeptics in the population. Optimists or non-skeptics saw the idea as a valuable decision because when people work more taxes will be paid and revenue will be increased for the benefit of all the people. A similar belief was circulated by skeptics regarding the affordable care act, which eventually escaped the submergence of skeptics. Which then is the only valid belief system? For me it is one which takes a logical scientific approach into forming a belief by fully examining the advantages and disadvantages  of a situation before killing the optimist belief system with doubt.
