Is the Dependence of Children’s Learning Success, Essay Example

Pages: 2

Words: 437

Essay

The research problem I am intending to work on during this project is the dependence of children’s learning success on their personal abilities to study individually or in a group. It is obvious that some extravert children are more apt to learning in groups, during interactions and communication, while other children are introvert, and they like to comprehend new things on their own. Understanding this issue is the basis for the teacher’s application of the differentiation strategy – this is the finding from the book of Conklin and Sorrell (2009) I studied for my literature review. The work of De Fraine, Belfe, and Van Damme (2011) explained the basics of group composition for effective learning, which is also crucial n the learning process. Some strong achievers may take the natural leadership role in a group, and prevent the weak achievers from learning and showing themselves during the lesson. Hence, it is highly necessary to design groups appropriately to the style of learning and the academic level of students to provide all of them with the maximum supportive and facilitative learning environment.

Edwards (2012) opened the new understanding of the classroom as a microcosm for children, which can become the positive experience for them in case they are appropriately organized into groups, and receive the proper amount of individual work as well. The information of Giordano, Litzenberger, Wagner-Menghin, and Binder (2009) helps comprehend the amount of time and the tasks necessary for achieving a high level of educational achievement for all levels of academic proficiency. Finally, since the topic of my research is explaining low and high performance, and finding ways of providing the optimal mixture of individual and group tasks to achieve better academic results, the work of Haahr, Nielsen, Hansen, and Jakobsen (2005) helps understand the basis for students’ performance to understand where the gaps are, and how they can be closed for successful learning.
