Issues and Trends in Work-Family Integration, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 267

Essay

In today’s society, the workplace environment represents a complex myriad of choices and responsibilities that necessitate flexibility, various benefits, and job security, amongst other requirements. For those employees with family responsibilities, it is necessary for employers to exercise flexibility in an effort to provide employees with the time and tools that are necessary to perform their duties, while also recognizing the value and importance of family life. Some companies have established various policies and procedures that demonstrate their willingness to be flexible and supportive of employee’s personal needs (Casad 284). In this manner, options such as flexible work schedules, telecommuting, and other related benefits have emerged in many companies as a means of showing support for employee needs (Casad 285). These options are essential and critical to the overall success of employees within today’s small and large businesses to promote loyalty, productivity, and respect amongst staff members (Casad 285). Perhaps a larger issue to consider is that of diversity in the workplace, which is reflected in the ability of an organization to recognize the personal challenges and responsibilities of employees and managers on a consistent basis (Casad 285).  The necessity of organizations to recognize the significance of flexibility is of critical importance to their overall longevity and success in their industry of choice. In a modern world that is transformed by technology on a regular basis, providing employees with flexibility in different formats is not only important, but necessary to create positive results, not only for organizations, but for their employees and managers, and to facilitate a valuable contribution to organizational achievement at the highest possible level.
