Jesus Christ and His Mission to the World, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 290

Essay

The mission of Jesus Christ was to come to Earth in order to be sacrificed and redeem humanity for our inherently sinful nature. According to the book Changethe World, Recovering the Message and Mission of Jesus, Original Sin exists because of the transgressions of Adam and Eve in Genesis. By eating forbidden fruit under the temptation of the serpent, Adam and Eve subjected humanity to the curse of Original Sin.

This transgression meant that humanity would be doomed to suffer toil on earth and damnation after death. Because of the disobeying of God’s word, people are naturally disconnected from God’s presence. This means that, after death, humans are doomed to separation from God and unable to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

Jesus’ mission on Earth was to bridge the disconnection between God and humanity through his own sacrifice and to enrich the lives of humans through his teachings of God’s love. In John 10:10, Jesus makes it clear by saying that:

“I am come so that they might have life, and that they might have it abundantly.”

Only through Jesus can humans hope to connect with God and enter the Kingdom of Heaven. This is the most important part of Jesus’ mission on Earth. However, his teachings were also meant to teach people how to live appropriately and in what way to best live for Him.

Jesus’ ministry was meant to instruct the people on the appropriate method to reach God through Him and to instruct them on how to live together for Him (Talmage 210).
