Juvenile Specialists, Interview Example

For the offered assignment, an interview with juvenile specialist Ashley Taflinger, from Madison Juvenile Correctional Facility for females, was conducted.  In the process of interviewing, Ms Taflinger was eagerly answering all factual information about facility and her job performance. There were no difficulties encountered until the issue of funding efficiency was raised. Ms Taflinger was reluctant to evaluate funds devoted to the programmes running in the facility and described them as available, rather than enough or lacking. Reluctance to comment on this issue is understandable, since exact financial information is not provided for a general public use.

This interview was useful for the obtaining of new information on the topic of juvenile correction work. I have become acquainted with specifics of correction programmes for young females and tactics of psychological and communicative interventions. It was extremely surprising to find out that teaching of healthy interpersonal relations is put on the first place in most of the programmes.

The current experience does not contribute directly to my intended career building, since juvenile delinquency is far from an animal law enforcement official, but it still has educative function. The gained knowledge contributes to development of a broad-minded perception of law enforcement and social work which might be useful if I chose to change qualification or make a teaching career. Such experiences also help to evaluate your future career and reconsider what exactly you want to do in the future. It gives an idea of other possibilities of helping people in the community.

From my perspective, such programmes contribute greatly to the future society building, since they help young women – future mothers – to return into society with wisdom and strength to develop harmoniously and efficiently for themselves, their families and society in general. Those females get a second chance in their lives, and juvenile specialists’ efforts are worth of admiration.
