Should a confidant who has strong to complete authority over the control of situations is expected to make a certain move when he knows that something wrong is going to happen. Apart from the formalities of ethics, it is an innate nature of humans to respond to an impending danger that they know is going to happen. Relatively, this is what Kant’s principles on ethics suggest just the same. When the will to make things right is carried into consideration, then humans tend to respond accordingly to the matter. However, when a person thinks that somehow his role in the situation is not that important, he then decides to drop the issue and continues to deal with the matter as if it does not pose any dangers at all.

In the case of Tatiana and her being killed by a man who has prior mentioned about the killing, the matter was supposed to be realized fully by those who have been in the right authority to take control. However, as Immanuel Kant’s deontological ethical theory mentions, it is the will of a person that dictates how he is supposed to deal with situations that could either directly or indirectly involve his role on the matter. Since the law or any particular structured form of control and authority does not bound it, the person involved needs to decide for himself and make conditional responses to the matter depending on how he sees it.

Tatiana’s situation could have been foreseen thoroughly and could have been prevented accordingly if only the threat has been considered real and damaging to the person it is directed to. Those who were in authority kept Poddar (the person who threatened the woman’s life) into custody several times. His attitudes were observed and since in all the said observations, he was considered rational, he was sent forth and released to live as free man. Considerably, the said individuals kept themselves involved in the situation as much as they could. However, upon ruling the safety of the situation, they ruled the consideration of the matter safe hence releasing the person out in the free allowing him in full control of his actions hence making decisions outside of the controls of the law.

The death of Tatiana is then accounted to have been “allowed” rather than controlled by the people involved in the situation. Most of the occurrences in line with the case specifically mandated the fulfillment of the threat. Ethically, when a threat is presented, acting upon it is necessary. However, when no appeal to consequence is being made, then the threat becomes less affective which creates a more responsive environment that allows for both the necessary and unnecessary things to happen.  Giving attention to what must be done in relation to passed on threats is a personal choice on the part of those who get involved in it. The confidant, the police, the hospital and other agencies included in the case are being specifically made responsible for the situation, however are not considered to be in direct control of the situation.

In the law that governs the overall application of ethics in real-life cases that involve life and death situations, it is essential to involve the connotation of the consequences that might happen after a certain decision is released. The question of whether or not the same response apply to all situations that follow the same pattern of occurrence becomes a base-foundation for the handling of this case. If danger is presented through verbal implications, should alarm be raised? Would the same response apply to all other threats? These questions give the authorities a chance to realize what kind of involvement they should embrace in response to the need of saving the life of the one to whom the threat has been made directly to. Understandably, what makes this situation more questionable is the fact that amidst all the possible considerations attempted by the authorities, the crime still happened. Could it be that the authorities simply responded the way they did to conform with their ethical will or did they really do their duties? These questions imply a sense of control and decision on the part of the individuals involved themselves and their recognition of their ethical role on the matter.
