Pages: 1

Words: 320

Essay

Handing experiments in the laboratory is a crucial part of learning science. Relatively, heating is a part of several experiments that lead to better science explorations. However, before going into the details of the experiment, there are some precautionary measures that should be considered by every student. First to note is the dress code. It is always advisable to use lab coats when inside the laboratory. The fabric used to make the lab coats has low reactivity to head. If in case lab coats are not available, synthetic clothes should be avoided. It would also help to use safety goggles to avoid  eye-injuries when unexpected explosions occur. Hairs should also be neatly combed in place before proceeding to heating experiments as untidy hair could get caught in the fire which could result to serious injuries. The second matter to note is the proper utilization of lab materials. Hot as the materials are [especially test tubes], they must be handled carefully using the tong and should be kept away from one’s self or others to avoid possible injuries. Third to consider is the need to know where the safety escapes are as well as that of the fire extinguisher. Emergencies do happen, and when they do, students need to know where to run to keep themselves safe from any possible injury. Overall, students must remember that the laboratory is no playground and the things or materials stored in such a room are no toys. Hence, when in the laboratory, extra care is expected from the students especially when they are asked to handle heating experiments that are designed to help them know more about science and not be injured by the ignorance of fascination over its procedures. It is always better to take precautions and be aware of what is happening around than to deal with the immense pain of emergencies that may occur when completing heating experiments in the laboratory.
