Introduction
The view of King with regard to social isolation was in form of barriers in as far as races are concerned in the context of the American ideals dealing with democracy, freedom as well as equality. Irrespective of the existence of majority of the advances, there has been a persistence of racial isolation as a very prominent feature in the daily life of the Americans. The issue has specifically been evident in the workplace. The intention of the Letter from Birmingham Jail highlights the notions of King with regard to the issues of segregation, the responsibility of the humankind towards steps of diminishing the evil as well as the possibility for relevance in the context of the leaders in possession modern-day business insight
Thesis statement: One of the most important tenets in civil rights agenda of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s deals with the issue of dismantling of the legal segregation that was evident on the US.
The implication of the Martin Luther King Jr’s Letter From Birmingham Jail is much deeper in relation to the Civil Rights Movement for African affecting the African Americans in the 21st century era this has the implication for a situation of civil rights for all people. The essence is the proposal for justice to all the people irrespective of their color, whether they are homosexuals or heterosexuals, whether they are rich or they are poor. King proposes the “”Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. Never again can we afford to live with the narrow, provincial ‘outside agitator’ idea. Anyone who lives inside the United States can never be considered an outsider anywhere within its bounds.” (Michael, 18).
The opponents of the equality for all as advocated for by King cite the issue related to same-sex marriages which are implicated as being an injustice. Injustice in this context is evident in the absence of legal marriage on a national wide context. King puts it forward that, “Anyone who lives inside the United States can never be considered an outsider anywhere within its bounds.” (Jean, 64).This brings about the consideration of the consideration of the homosexuals as being locked out from the ability to marry in a legal manner. This is a form of an injustice as well as an unjust law. This bring about the question of the implication of an unjust law where King explains it in terms of codes that are man made that have been squared with moral laws as well as God’s law. The implication of the unjust law is the code devoid of harmony in as far as moral law is concerned. It is basically a law originating from humans and lacks the roots to the eternal as well as the natural law. Any type of law responsible for uplifting the personality of the humans is considered to be just while the one responsible for degrading the personality of the humans is considered to be unjust. Segregation statutes therefore qualify to be unjust due to their action of distorting the soul alongside damaging personality. The statute confers a false superiority sense to the segregator and a false inferiority sense to the segregated.
The letter from Birmingham jail at raising the awareness of nonviolent gadflies responsible for the creation a tension in the society with the impact of awakening men from depths that are dark and full of prejudice together with racism into a state of majestic heights facilitating understanding as well as brotherhood. The opponents are caught in a situation of great anxiety with regard to the willingness of breaking the laws through nonviolent protests. The issue however is of a certain degree of legitimate concern. This is based on the fact that people have been encouraged to show respect to the 1954 decision of the Supreme Court that required them to outlaw actions related to segregation in public schools. (Theodore, 133). In the first instance, the issue of breaking the law is paradoxical as the question of advocating for breaking of some of the laws while at the same time advocating obeying others is bound to arise. This brings about the two types of laws, the just as well as the unjust
Conclusion
The implication of the letter relates the performance of the right actions. However, it is clearly evident that doing things that are usually right is not one of the most easy things. The results may therefore not be realized immediately but persistence is a requirement. An individual must learn to assume firm principles in the process o9f making decision. The right course of action may result to a situation of trouble although he course is usually good and warranted
