Essay

I have wanted to attend the Master of Civil Engineering at University of Norwich for as long as I can remember. I am cognizant of the actuality that this school is the perfect fit for me, as it is able to offer every single concentration of study that I intend to excel in. The incentive as to why I yearn earn such a degree is because I want to instigate the maximum change I can. Specifically, I have taken it upon me to ensure that people are safe from future underground catastrophe responses. This ambition can only be achieved through hard work and, of course, a degree in Geotechnical Engineering.

Upon my completion of an extensive four year technical degree of research and production of petroleum in Angola-Africa, I have found a passion within me to learn everything there is to know about the behavior of earth’s mechanism. My undergraduate studies on geology at Indiana University have only solidified my interests. My primary focus in order to protect the environment has included, but has not been limited to, soil mechanics, water flow through soil, underground infrastructure, and methods of transportation. My previous years have involved the in-depth study of plant behavior. On this research, I had the opportunity to perform studies such as scientific observations and geologic problem-solving methods in the Elk Basin Oil Field in Wyoming. This was performed through the application of suitable geologic mapping techniques and by acquiring familiarity with geologic, physiographic, and natural resource features of such a region. Through this kind of research, I was able to familiarize myself with the preparing of statigraphic sections, scientific reports, and maps based off of daily research and thorough investigation. Other types of research that I have had the opportunity to undertake include the expansion of practical experience with GPS, including factors such as the mapping on portable computers with ARCMAP and PDA pocket computers with ARCPAD. In addition, I have also studied the paleogeography of the Upper Ordovician Standard SE in the Indiana region. I could go on for days about the impeccable invaluable amount of knowledge I acquired from partaking in so many research opportunities.

I believe what sets me apart from other applicants is my drive and ambition to make a change in the world. The online courses offered by Norwich University fit my schedule perfectly, providing me with all the skills and experience that I necessitate in order to excel in all aspects of my career. Being a father, husband, and self-employed resident is not an easy task; in fact, some would say I am crazy for having so many responsibilities. However, I am firm in the resolve that once I am given the opportunity at Norwich University, I will be able to perform well in the given environment. I assure you that if and when you admit me into you program in Civil Engineering, I will surpass all expectations, both yours, and mine.
