Life Is a Comedy, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 329

Essay

It has been said that for those who think, life is a comedy, while for those who feel, life is a tragedy.   Are you more inclined to see life as a comedy, or as a tragedy?  Why?

Life is much more of an ongoing tragedy that it is that of a comedy.  While there are comedic moments from time to time, there is an ongoing pattern of people coming into your life and either by choices, actions or death people are ripped from your live.  For instance, Don Quixote’s lifestyle was comedic to some, but it was the ultimate tragedy because he was a fallen warrior who had lost everything and desperately wished to return to the glory days.  He had a strong rush of feelings in every fictitious battle and his final battle invokes a rush of feelings for the reader with no more comedic moments remaining.  Each person has feelings and acknowledge those feelings at different degrees than others.  Don Quixote felt more than most other people acknowledge and he had some of the greatest highs and lows that a person could possibly have.

I also have great degrees of feelings and when a person enters or leaves my life, I feel it more than most people especially when it is someone that I truly love.  For this reason, I view life mainly as a tragedy with some of the greatest and worst moments of my life standing out much more than the rest.  This does not mean that I do not think, however.  I definitely spend time thinking and analyzing my life and the events in it and the rest of the world.  The difference is that I do not see things as black and white; there is far too much grey area that must be deciphered by one’s own feelings.  By acknowledging these feelings, we are able to experience life with the greatest highs and lows that are possible, just as the famous Don Quixote realized.
