Love Songs by Sara Teasdale, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 292

Essay

Love Songs by Sara Teasdale is without a doubt a great sonnet. On the other hand, “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost appears to be a rhymed poem. Regardless of the differences between these two poems, it goes without saying that both of them carry their message out effectively to their intended audience. The similarities between the two poems is the manner in which they both end with a  sense of optimism. For example, in Robert Frost’s poem, he talks about how there has been a vast amount of difference between him and other individuals because he of his decision to take the road less traveled by many. In a sense, this gives the impression that the character within the poem indicates that he or she will be given a unique opportunity that not a lot of individuals are given simply because of the way in which he or she chose to do something different. In a similar manner, “Love Songs” has a love theme attached to it, of course (hence the title.) However, the way in which it is able to portray a sense of optimism is also illustrated towards the end of the poem in which Sara Teasdale talks about how the character within her poem is “at rest” whenever he or she thinks about his or her loved one. Despite the fact that there are a variety of messages that the authors of the poems could have been trying to convey to their audience, it is most likely that both of these authors were trying to give their readers a sense of hope. Not only that, but it should also be considered that both of the authors were trying to find a happy life through their own writings.
