MacBook Pro Target Market, Research Paper Example

Pages: 2

Words: 542

Research Paper

One of the more prominent companies in technology is Macintosh, or Mac for short.  Nearly two decades ago their first personal computer was revealed, which has launched the company into the computing market.  The MacBook Pro is no exception, as it demonstrates a well-defined target market.

MacBook Pro

While Mac is the company that makes the MacBook Pro, Mac is operated under the larger Apple company.  If we take this company, even more concepts of marketing come to mind.  Of course Apple is well known for their marketing of products such as the iPod, iPhone, iTunes, and the recent iPad.

It is no different for their personal computers under the Mac name.  Competing against systems that run on the Windows Operating System, the Mac computers are aggressively marketed, even currently.  Recently Mac systems have been seen in commercials depicting their ease of use over the common troubles of Windows errors.

The MacBook Pro is no exception.  It is also marketed for its ease of use, along with other computers in the Mac line.  Other computers in the Mac line, such as the MacBook, MacBook Air, and the iMac can also be seen in the personal computing market, as well as in advertisements from Apple.

Target Market

The MacBook Pro should first be realized for its versatility.  Apple prides the MacBook Pro on its advanced functionality inside the computer, heralding the “advanced” Mac OS X Snow Leopard (Apple).  In this regard, it is important to realize that the MacBook Pro is marketed towards different types of targets.

With this in mind, graphics professionals are certainly targeted with the MacBook Pro product.  Speaking to its versatility, Apple markets the novelty items of the product, citing facial recognition functionalities, video wizards, and other uses (Apple).  However, Apple takes the initiative when promoting the advanced functions of the MacBook Pro.

Graphics professionals can benefit from the many advantages of the MacBook Pro.  A powerful graphics card, Wi-Fi, camera, and wireless access begin the list of features for varying professionals in the field.  Mobility on the MacBook Pro is heralded by Apple, citing the durability, thinness, and light build of the computer.  Its long battery life is also cited from the company (Apple).

Versatility in features appeals directly to graphics professionals.  Such professionals can take advantage of the versatility of the computer itself and the technology within.  For instance, the MacBook Pro is unofficially able to support Linux, Windows, and other x86 operating systems (EveryMac).  This is perfect for professions that require access to certain high-end applications, such as those who are involved in graphics applications.

Apple’s marketing form makes it accessible to other markets, however.  This results in being able to target those in certain areas, such as graphics professionals, as well as appealing to general users.  Apple’s marketing philosophy for the MacBook Pro interestingly includes a number of the public.

Conclusion

The MacBook Pro is certainly a marketed product from a prolific company in terms of advertisements in Apple.  This product is targeted towards professionals with high-end needs, like graphics professionals.  While other users are not left out, it seems appropriate that users with these advanced needs will respond to the capabilities of the MacBook Pro.
