What is the role of managers in contributing and improving performance?

Corporate and Middle-level managers have a responsibility to design organizational architecture that helps to make better use of resources for the better production of desired products. They perform an analysis of tasks and then come up with jobs that give the organization a chance to produce goods that best suit the wants of customers. They group jobs so that they can best match the needs of the organization’s environment, human resources and strategy.

Organizational structure

This is a system that is formal and it defines the job and task relationships. It also determines how organizational goals are achieved through proper utilization of resources (Jones and George 316). There are several factors that affect the structure of an organization. They include strategy, human resources, technology and organizational environment.

The choice of organizational structure was mainly because of the fact that a company’s structure provides a defined hierarchy on how tasks are to be performed. Structures allow an organization to be flexible on both the local and global level. It provides a means through which international strategy will be pursued. Human resource is very important to any organization and thus their needs have to be considered when designing the structure. This has been helpful since I have understood the need to be clear with what I expect for myself, the organization, the human resource and how to pursue international strategies.

I am from the US, and when I hear the word organizational structure, I immediately think of a visit I made to the Apple store in Boston. The hierarchy of work is well defined so that every employee knows their position. When an employee is not able to help, they refer a customer to a more senior level where they can get assistance. The assistance provided portrays the importance and power of designing an organizational structure and implementing it well.
