Management Chaos, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 405

Essay

Gordon Ramsey’s show Kitchen Nightmares is known for featuring restaurants that are almost out of business. Ramsey comes in the picture, find what’s wrong and hopefully, with a few alterations to the management system, the store and even the owners’ attitudes, the business is expected to gain further boost. The episodes of the show continue to follow the same pattern. Most likely, the said episodes feature how effective Ramsey’s approach is that most of the restaurants he visits come back successful in the industry.

However, for this particular episode, the turn of events did not quite pan out as expected. The owner of Amy’s Baking Company, Amy and her husband, were noted to have some issues with their behavior causing them to lash out even at customers when the said individuals say that they were not satisfied with the service or the product that they have been served. As Ramsey begins to see the problem, he goes about his business and tries to save what is still left to be saved; however, his efforts were put to nothing.

Before the show coming into the lives of the owners of Amy’s Baking Company, rumors about a social community blog going against their operation and the attitude of the owners towards their customers have been set up. These blogs specifically point out the rudeness of the owners and the fact that they cannot cook well; let alone the treatment that they provide their workers. The primary aim of the owners in inviting Gordon Ramsey and his crew was to actually clear their name off from all the bad publicity they get online.

I feel that because of the said results, such goal was not achieved. Nevertheless, publicity, whether it is good or not, still puts their name on the map; likely, because of the increased level of controversy, some people come to the store to just see for themselves if what they see, what they hear and what they read are all true. In a way, at some point, the owners still got what they want, which is to put their name in the heads of the people. This presentation specifically helps in identifying the worth of publicity that is used as a means of marketing a particular business, whether good or bad, the way the name sticks to the mind of the people arouses wondering that pushes them to be interested in confirming whether what they know is true.
