This paper addresses the Mission, Goals and Objectives of the firm Chel SalonSpa; a full spa service company based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.  “We have just had an important milestone at Chel as we celebrated 20 years in business on March 1^st” (Chelsalonspa). In addition we examine the strategic planning controls deemed necessary to achieve the goals and objectives.

Mission goals and objectives

Mission:  The Mission of ChelSalonSpa is to provide the customer with the optimum experience from Spa Packages.  As such the Spa is  Saskatchewan’s premier Aveda concept Salon offering a high quality spa experience

Goals:  The goals may be enumerated as follows:-

1. To provide customers with an optimum spa experience
2. To provide only the finest products, via our partnership with Aveda
3. To provide a holistic range of services that includes: Massage, facials, pedicures, Esthetics, Hair Care, Spa body make up, experience packages
4. An environmentally pleasing spa atmosphere
5. Highly qualified therapists to meet all of your needs

Objectives:  Our objectives embrace the following:

1. Provision of a high quality service to our customers
2. Provision of only the best quality spa merchandise for use in the Spa
3. Provision of professional massage services
4. Provision of professional massage therapy

Environmental analysis

The Salon deals with air sprays that potentially damage the ozone. In addition we are dealing with other plastics and solvents “most come in elaborate packaging; cans and plastic spray bottles. The plastics will be with us for a long time to come; breaking down into toxic chemicals that poison the earth and groundwater. Most of the plastics are made from crude oil; the industry which has wreaked so much havoc on this planet.” (Green living tips). It is difficult to be totally green in this business but wherever possible the firm attempts to use eco-friendly products.

Strategic planning controls

We endeavour to adopt a Balanced Scorecard approach to the strategic development of the business- “The balanced scorecard is a strategic planning and management system that is used extensively in business and industry, government, and non-profit organizations worldwide to align business activities to the vision and strategy of the organization, improve internal and external communications, and monitor organization performance against strategic goals.” (Balanced Scorecard Institute).  This approach aligns our vision for the organization to be aligned with four main goals : Financial, Internal Business Processes, Learning and Growth and our Customers. “The balanced scorecard suggests that we view the organization from four perspectives, and to develop metrics, collect data and analyze it relative to each of these perspectives” (Balanced Scorecard Institute). Our vision is very customer centric as we are a full service facility and provide a unique integrated spa experience to our customers.  This is based around an extensive range of products from our preferred alliance partner Aveda.  We may not be the cheapest spa solution but reputation is based upon service and quality, together with the professional reputation of the massage staff and stylists.
