Scientists all over the world in their quest to determine the relationship between marijuana use and schizophrenia prevalence, have conducted much research. In this regard, there is a sigh of relief for people who have always worried holding on a believe that that smoking too much cannabis might lead to schizophrenia. New researches from Harvard medical school have failed to get sufficient evidence that links the use of Marijuana and schizophrenia. This was done by comparison of families with a history of schizophrenia and those without. The current researchers noted that having an increased familial morbid risk for schizophrenia might trigger schizophrenia amongst the cannabis users as opposed to the use of cannabis itself. In accordance with the family frequency calculations and morbid risk, the researchers concluded that the bottom line of schizophrenia is having an increased familial risk. The lead researcher Ashley Proal states that the marijuana may have an influence on the age with respect to the onset of schizophrenia; however, it cannot trigger illness.
