Master of Business Administration, Essay Example

Pages: 2

Words: 556

Essay

Master of Business Administration recipients are prepared to use the knowledge that they have acquired throughout the education to make informed investments and to create financial opportunities for others. Compared to graduates from other fields, the MBA is able to combine a series of skills that help create an understanding of business. Several of these perspectives include accounting, finance, marketing, human resources, and operations management. Not only do these skills help professionals gain an understanding of the real estate market, they also help these individuals determine how to best organize the resources that are available to them.

In particular, I am interested in investing in property in Jacksonville, FL. I am particularly interested in purchasing foreclosed homes and then reselling them after remodeling to gain a larger profit. Since some of these properties are very inexpensive due to the need for the bank to get a return on its investment, this is one of the most reasonable ways to make a large profit. To enhance this business, I will also function as a realtor by selling and buying homes for a percentage of the selling price. Combining these two activities will help diversify my business practices and therefore enhance profitability.

Since my business plan is effective, I will be able to create financial opportunities for others by hiring as employees. For my normal realtor functions, I will need to hire individuals with marketing skills in order to make house vacancies known to the target population. In addition, it will be important to have representatives available who have real estate experience to discuss property value and other aspects of sales to increase the number of clients that are seen each day. These individuals will also be needed to promote the company so that individuals who are seeking to buy or sell a home are aware of the services that exist. For the portion of the business that will acquire and renovate foreclosed homes, it will be necessary to hire individuals who are able to complete construction projects and have a general understanding of interior design. For this operation to be successful in the beginning, there will likely be at least 2 employees and this number is expected to expand over time as more sales are made.

Ultimately, holding an MBA will allow me to be prepared for these business practices because these courses will prevent me with the necessary background to understand the financial aspect of the real estate industry. Furthermore, this will help me determine which homes are the best investments in terms of net profit and inflation or depreciation of value. These practices will be supported by the operations management and human resources training in a manner that will support the training and organization of employees. This education will be valuable because I will be able to combine my acquired knowledge with my preexisting and current work experience to make conclusions about the real estate field that will help drive my business in the right direction. While many individuals attempt to run such a business without this kind of training, they are unsuccessful because they lack the necessary skills. Therefore, participating in a MBA program is worthwhile because it helps increase the odds of success in the business and investment world by providing workers with a range of skills that are applicable in both practice and in life.
