Pages: 1

Words: 316

Essay

Concepts culture is a cultures ideas, thoughts, wants, and desires; these are the things that make the concepts culture. This culture uses their ideas and thoughts that are in the brain to define their culture. They may always be trying something new and making new things, all because they have a little idea inside them and they went with it and are able to make it a reality.

Material cultures are the things that people use to describe their culture; this can be anything from clothing to buildings. These things are what define their culture. For example computers, students must learn to use computers today because our society depends upon them. Our current culture is a technology based culture.

Non-material culture is simply how it sounds the things that define culture without actually being physical, beliefs, values, morals, rules, and anything else that defines a culture without being physical. Everyculture has its own set of beliefs and rules; this is what makes each culture unique; the fact that they all do not think alike.

Cultural Relativism is viewing all beliefs and values from only the point of that culture. If a culture believed one thing and another culture believed another, the other cultures beliefs would be discarded. Ethnocentrism is the specific cultures belief that they are the best culture out every culture there is. That no other culture is as good as they are, none could even come close, such as the Skin Head Culture. This culture believes that they are the supreme race, Supreme Being that no other even comes close to them. They believe that any other religion besides protestant is wrong, any minority race is wrong, they truly believe the ways of Hitler and they will kill people who do not act like them or believe like them. They truly feel that they are the best and no one else can even come close to them.
