Problem:

I drink 1 glass of wine (W) per day + 2 glasses when I dine out = twice per week (2)

Expression  W=5+2E

I am a modest drinker of wine and have one glass of light white wine per day, this usually accompanied with meals at home.  In this equation the number of glasses of wine is expressed as that of the latter W.  As such the total of wine consumption in a week is expressed as W=5+2E where 5 = the number of week days and 1 glass of wine consumption per week-day.  E represents those additional days where I dine out with friends, usually at the week-ends, where I increase my consumption to that of 2 glasses per day. Hence (2 x 2 ). So my total wine consumption in a given week would be  W= 5+ 4 = 9 glasses per week.  Hence the statistics derived from this are as follows:

Hence the mean average of glasses of wine consumed in 1 week = 4.5 glasses.
