Words: 590

Essay

Good morning everyone, in my speech I am going to focus on the measures to reduce or combat human trafficking. Human trafficking has been a challenge to many countries and authorities all over the world. This is because the act has been rampant since it affects both the adults and children. Human trafficking has been a booming business currently where people are sold, or those performing the act are paid after identifying or high jacking people. Young children are enticed such that they can be high jacked while the adults are lured of being offered employment, false marriages, and money promises. To combat human trafficking, awareness should be made all over the world about human traffickers. This will enable people to be vigilant when performing their daily activities like businesses or any other activity. Awareness will motivate many people to keen before making any decision to take an offer of marriage, employment, or money promises (Ren 140). This will assist them not fall as victims of human trafficking.

Crimes on human trafficking can be communicated to the people in different places through books, newspapers, and magazines. Dangers of human trafficking and how it is performed should be written on books, magazines, and newspapers. This will enable people to read and understand about human trafficking such that they can defend themselves by not associating with traffickers or rejecting false and dangerous offers. Tactics on how people can defend themselves and their children from traffickers should be published in these books, newspapers and magazines. Public meetings should frequently be held to address people about human trafficking especially in the rural areas. This is because human traffickers are concentrating in rural areas since people in the community do not understand their tactics. Public meetings will help those who do not access the books, newspapers, and magazines to get the message about human trafficking and learn how they can defend themselves.

Social media is another way that people can be reached when the message about human trafficking is send to the people. These are the web pages like twitter, facebook, MySpace, histagram, and even YouTube. This is because many people both adults and young children are registered on the social media. Since it is an online mode of communication, many people all over the world can be reached and get the same message. Photos and messages of how people are mistreated through human trafficking are posted and frequently updated  on the social media web pages. This will enable people to understand the dangers and try to avoid any activity or offer that will lead them to human trafficking (Ren 140).

The government should intervene by devising strict measures where those who are performing the crime are punished. If those performing the crime are arrested and punished accordingly, they will discourage other people from engaging in human trafficking. In addition, the government should collaborate with non-governmental organizations when running the campaign to combat human trafficking. This is because these organizations are working in the community, and they are in contact with the people most of the time and the message will reach the people. To make the youth engaged and grow to understand the problems of human trafficking, it should be included in the school curriculum in both primary and secondary schools. This will make the children understand human trafficking and learn how to defend themselves and their families in the future.
