Essay

In the Alexis Health Center, the managers introduced the use of technology skills to communicate, work and also to record data. Most of the experienced employees in the hospital were those who were older at the age of forty and above because they had worked in the health center for more than ten years. These employees refused to adjust to the change because they did not know where to start. The new technology would change their entire working experience and some of them thought that young and skilled personnel would come and replace them very soon. The employees suddenly panicked because they thought the learning process would involve so much and it would take so much of their time that they would lose everything in the very end. The employees could not communicate with their managers directly because they thought that they were incompetent and would be fired if they opened their mouths to speak.

Mark Jon (2009) suggested that the single solution would be to call a conference meeting for all the employees to say their individual problems in relation to the organizational change. Some employees said that they were afraid they would be fired if they did not adapt to the change, some said that they did not know how to learn a new skill within that short period of time and others said that it would be hard for older employees to start learning new skills. The employees should be assured that none of them is going to be fired. Lissa Loise (2007) then suggested that they should be mentored and coached accordingly so that each one of them will be able to recognize the need for change. The employees should get an increment in their salaries because the new organizational change is bound to bring in more profits to the company. The old employees’ experience in the organization is still essential. It is also important to counsel those who seem very resistance to the change in the organization in case there are people who need the therapy sessions.
