Pages: 2

Words: 667

Essay

Snacks have nutritional benefits but can also have negative health impacts based on the quantities and types of nutrients that they have. Passive nibbling brings on unwanted calories causing trouble.  Snacks like chocolate, chips on sugar rich drinks like shakes increase fat burden in the diet which is associated with chronic diseases like cancer and heart diseases. A nutritious snack can bridge the gap between meals as well as provide energy needed by the body in which situation it becomes part of a nutritious diet. Snacks may also help avoid a famine or feast mentality and reduce hunger pangs. The important considerations to make in order to achieve good snacking is to pay attention to size of the  portion you consume and have prior plan .Just think about  portable smart snack options which  fit your taste.

This program is aimed at providing appropriate alternatives to students as well as providing a revenue stream to the schools involve. It will be aimed at revolutionizing the feeding habits of the students in these schools. We aim at setting fast food snacks at these schools which will be set to function in the manner of tuck shops. These will be stationed at the schools open are for easy access. The snacks will be made from fresh fruits as well as fresh fruit juices that will be made from fruits that are sourced from within the neighborhood farms. The fruits will be bought and used to make healthy snacks and the quality will be assured using our long term experience in this field. Fruits will be bought on a three day reorder basis to ensure that we maintain our foods as fresh all along.

This program will provide healthier alternatives to the students and hence prevent them from the risk of the diseases caused by snacking like diabetes and heart diseases. The proposed action plan will lead to the removal of many forms of advertising from the school campus since we will be selling to the students exclusively. This will lessen the burden of cleaning resulting from the papers put for advertising. Students doing relevant courses like catering, beverage making, accounting among others will get training on relevant jobs as they will have a chance of getting hands on experience of what they learn in class from these shops.

The proposed action plan is to have the admin raking in 30% profit share from the proceeds of the snack shops. The schools will be urged to provide free space for pitching the tuck shops. The schools will be assured of profits since the student population is an assured market. If we have a profit margin of 20% we will ensure that we offer the snacks at student friendly prices. This will mean that at 30% of the 20% profit margin, the school will be getting a tidy sum of 0.06% of the total selling price. Considering the expected high sales volume due to the high student population which provides a ready market, then the business is highly valuable.

The community around will also benefit from the proposed program since there will be no more worries for parents concerning their children’s getting diabetes and other diseases  .In addition local farmers will benefit as we will source the fruits from them meaning they will get a ready market for their produce.

In view of this clearly outlined plan and the well thought out course of action, we feel that this plan is very feasible and will go a long way in benefiting all the stake holders as well as ensuring that we have a healthier student population. The schools will grow out of their role of being mere passive learning centers to areas of active education as well as having an active impact on student’s health and lifestyle. We therefore seek an opportunity to make a presentation of our project to the school board in the next meeting so that we can make them aware of our plan as well as respond to any queries that they have.
