Microsoft Office 2007 Applications, Essay Example

Microsoft Office application is made up of Microsoft tools which are Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint; these are the commonly used applications and are the one I will evaluate in this assignment. The applications have been of benefit to most employees in different economics sectors and have as well benefited me by improving my computing skills. Due to changing needs in businesses it has been a mandatory requirement that one need to be skilled with Microsoft tools being discussed in this assignment because most operations have been computerized.

I have learnt that Microsoft office applications are user friendly and are meant to meet most of the business operations/transactions which took place in a business environment on daily bases. According to Deragon, (2007) absence of Microsoft application in a business environment or even a learning institution would mostly lead to most operations being not computerized.

Use of Ms-Word is essential in development of documents of all types and does not depend on the size of the document. They would either be letters, memos or reports with many pages and it has the utilities of formatting the document with use of different font size and type, tables, photos or even graphical presentations, which are being used on daily bases. While, Ms-Excel have proved to be an amazing tool especially in statistical analysis in numerical data which would need to be analyzed (Smith, 2007). Its ease use of formulae for different calculations and presentation of data in form of graphs or charts and analysis makes it a useful tool which eases calculations with high level of accuracy.

Ms-Access is the record management tool of Microsoft it is much more advanced than Ms-Excel due to its applicability of database management system. While using it one would be able to manage record by adding, editing, deleting and retrieve it with highly customized query generated reports (Deragon, 2007). Records management have been a challenge and use of the application have ease it.

Lastly it is Ms-PowerPoint; this application is rarely used unlike the rest because it is used in preparation of presentations in form of slides. Use of PowerPoint as a student has enabled me to prepare group work or personal presentation for assignments which are expected to be presented in class. Trainers have as well used them as training aid as it is able to present the training materials sequentially as the trainer elaborates/explains on the points in the slides. Similarly with presentations which are done in business environment which would either be in a meeting or any form of environment which an employee needs to present their materials to the rest. According to Smith, (2007) Microsoft have ensured that all its utility share almost the same interface hence if you know one it is easy to learn or use another one and its documents are highly compatible hence its easy to transfer content from one application to another with ease.
