Middle Ground Method, Essay Example

Essay

An argument stance that I took on the previous essay was more of a Toulmin model of argument where my main claim was that eating fast foods is the main cause of obesity. This was the statement that I highlighted in the essay and highlighted how fast foods increased the prevalence of obesity in the society. The grounds for this supposition relied on the findings of previous studies which have found that 95% of people who consume fast foods are very likely to be obese. The warrant for this argument according to the Toulmin model was that fast foods contain high amount of fats and calories that were deposited on the adipose tissues of the body hence causing obesity and overweight. The argument was backed by health records available in the nearby health centers and clinics.

If I was to write a middle ground agreement, I would argue for the both positive and negative sides of fast foods. The main advantage of taking fast foods is that they save a lot of time which is spend while preparing homemade foods and thereby enabling people to save time and energy. Fast foods also enhance convenience as they are consumed anywhere and therefore suitable for people living very busy lifestyles. The other positive side of the fast foods is that they contain a lot of vitamins and therefore can help to boost one’s health. The negative side will emphasize on the health issues associated with the consumption of fast foods. Additional sources to support this middle ground argument are information provided by most nutritionists who recommend the consumption of such foods for people who lead a busy lifestyle.
