Introduction
Special needs teachers face massive struggles within the school institutions. Not all individuals adhere to the ethical codes to govern and ensure they experience an excellent working condition (Board, 2019). Therefore, an individual should always be prepared with alternative solutions to incorporate if the ethical codes are not favorable.
Week Two
Within week two, the ethical issue was that I was not adequately compensated for all the extra work I incorporated. The moral codes state that individuals should receive adequate compensation when they indulge in work more than the assigned tasks (Board, 2014). Special needs education teachers have significant responsibilities of organizing the students’ learning plans, and any instances of extra work should be rewarded accordingly. However, I claimed that I was being overworked but not awarded for my solemn efforts.
Week Three
During week three, the ethical issue is that I was inconvenienced regarding how I am supposed to create the IEP (Rosenberg & Schwartz, 2017). It is a moral issue because the special teacher feels that indulging in that activity at the start of the summer break will pry into her summertime. Unfortunately, I have to work on four IEPs instead of the standard two.
Week Four
The ethical issue experienced within the fourth week was dealing with parents who have failed to sort out their marital problem, which had negative repercussions on the learner. The child has a disorder, and I noticed how terrible the condition had escalated because the parents failed to remit the required attention (Board, 2019). It is an ethical issue since I could not help solve the problem if the parents have a minimal agreement; thus, the child’s condition would have escalated and worse than expected. I highlighted the ethical issue because I had to deal with it and ensure the learner is placed on the required medication. That could only happen when I received the parents’ formal agreement and ensure that they find the best solution to the learner’s disorder.
Week Two
The ethical dilemma experienced during that week is inadequate compensation. The BACB compliance code analyzed within that context is 1.02: conforming to the legal and professional requirements. Compensation is a legal requirement that should be complied with, especially for the teacher’s unique needs (Rosenberg & Schwartz, 2019). The department should ensure that the teacher is awarded bountifully regarding the massive amount of work and efforts delegated to complete their tasks. The department’s robust solution culminates in employing more teachers within the school institution to help out with the excess activities. One aspect of dealing with special needs learners is that they have massive duties, and they need enough teachers to help each other within that context. The responsibilities can be equally divided to analyze whether she would stop receiving nasty comments from her colleagues. It is an ethically acceptable solution since hiring more professionals facilitates the equal distribution of duties preventing overworking.
Week Three
The ethical issue was creating the IEP during the summer break, which was inconvenient for the teacher of the unique need. The BACB code reflected within this moral issue is 1.03: accountability. I comprehend that I am responsible for creating those specific lesson plans, which will assist when classes resume after summer (Board, 2014). Therefore, I deciphered an essential technique to work on each IEP weekly during the summer duration and ensure that they are done beforehand. It is the best solution because it proves my accountability towards my profession despite taking up my leisure time. The answer is ethical because I will refrain from straining or delaying introducing the IEPs in class after the summer. The decision is befitting since I will have a long duration to carefully develop the IEPs to suit every learner’s needs and correct possible mistakes before handing them over.
Week Four
The ethical dilemma within that week was dealing with problematic relationships and how the child was the main person affected. The BABC code examined from the week’s experience is; 1.11: multiple relationships. It is pretty oblivious that the relationship between both parents affected the child’s well-being (Rosenberg & Schwartz, 2019). The challenge has to be dealt with effectively because the child requires urgent medication. The code can be incorporated in the solution where the teacher will ensure that the parents patch up their relationship to prevent it from being a massive threat to their lives. The answer is beneficial since the exceptional need learner will receive the best treatment, thus improve their conditions. The ethically acceptable solution is advising the parents to seek a professional counselor’s help. I think that decision is the best because professionals are better positioned to administer effective alternatives for the challenge.
Conclusion
I experienced both professional and ethical challenges within my workplace. The BABC compliance code contributes to the decisions I make while analyzing some of the perfect solutions. Incorporating those significant thoughts will create a serene working environment where I understand how to deal with the challenges rising within my working space.
