Military Downsizing; Process, Problems, Possibilities, Essay Example

After every major conflict, the U.S has always downsized its army. This was the case after the cold war that had been successfully completed that received a fragrance attention with most of the remaining the forces that is the survivors to the downsizing concept. This article aims at examining the downsizing, process, effects on both the government and the survivors of the conflict. To help meet these objectives, the study makes good use of both the qualitative and quantitative research approaches with more emphasis being given on the qualitative analysis.

The study seeks to address of some specific issues that include but not limited to the general effects of downsizing on the commitment of the organization, army’s communications pertaining the downsizing plan, process, and its overall effects. It also aims at finding out the importance of this downsizing to the survivors alongside finding out the significance of army’s treatment and the care given to the victims of this downsizing.

An independent two-sample was used in this study with the sample sizes used being equal. They were however not related in any way. This would help in testing the statistical hypothesis developed to give answers to the specific objectives of the study. The total population understudy was three hundred survivors with a sample of 45 each used with most the sample used got through the use of some statistical instrument like questionnaires to get the right sample that is representative.

Microsoft Office Excel 2007 was then used to analyses this two sample groups in order to calculate their t- values. A comparison of the t-values with p-values was then undertaken in order to find the results of the research. This is the ANOVA statistical tool that is most common among the military science researches due to its simplicity and ability to analyze multiple variables.
