Introduction

This project provides an overview of the level of achievement that Haiti has reached in their work to implement the Millennium Development Goals (MDG).  This will involve an overview of various aspects related to Haiti including geography, population, the established political regime, and the nation’s history in order to better understand the factors that may potentially affect their ability to reach these goals.  The period in time and the context under which Haiti made these pledges should, therefore, be considered.  In looking at these five primary goals, it is important to focus on being able to demonstrate data that provides an understanding of some of the major events that are happening in the country at this time that may affect these developments.  The five major goals include poverty and hunger, universal primary education, the promotion of gender equality and empowerment, the effective treatment of various diseases, and the improvement of maternal health.  In analyzing the information available regarding the implementing these goals, and the outcome of doing so, a more accurate representation of how far Haiti has come in achieving them can be understood.  This can help to present an argument in regards to whether or not the methods that have been used in order to achieve these goals are effective.  This can, in turn, help to demonstrate the underlying importance of implementing these international goals and in utilizing cooperation in order to establish more opportunities for those living in the international community.  In understanding these results, initiatives can further the implementation of these strategies by providing opportunities for funding of the various programs that have been implemented in order to achieve the goals that have been established.  This presents the need to understand the underlying implications that achieving one goal might have on the achievement of another.
