Lesson

Key ideas and details related to this standard include asking students to find key ideas presented in a text. These ideas pertain to familyand  the text contains words and pictures for students to identify main points. The teachers would then ask students what they found as key ideas in the text. A summary of ideas would be given by the teacher confirming those selected by students (Mississippi Standards, 2014).

Standard details: Withguidanceand illustration of ideas contained in a text studentsare allowed during play time to dramatize key ideas confirmed by teacher from reading.

Standard 11:Kindergarten Speaking and Listening 

Core standard area chosen:Speaking and listening (Kindergarten)

Lesson

Students will engage in describing significant others such as parents and siblings in a role play activity. They would then  makedraw impressions of them during another  play activity. Finally, they will speak out aloud their thoughts concerning these persons. One child will speak and the others listen while he/she speaks.

 Standard details

Students are expected to follow agreed rules when conducting speaking and listening tasks ((Mississippi Standards, 2014).

Standard 111:Writing

Core standard area chosen: Writing (Kindergarten)

Lesson

Students are given a variety of digital tools to explore the written words. They are asked to rewrite them on a piece of paper. Students are given drawings and asked to write them down in words during a play activity.

Standards details

With guidance and support from older people, students are expected to make responses to questions. Also, they must be encouraged to offer suggestions when peers speak(Mississippi Standards, 2014).
