Pages: 1

Words: 234

Essay

Quantitative Research Article Data Analysis Critique

The research selected for analysis in this assignment was based on whether using mixed methods to analyze data retrieved from marriage and family therapy is advantageous. Using a different combination of analysis techniques will allow the researchers to gain a greater understanding of the information that they have acquired. While this can be done to combine quantitative and qualitative techniques, different quantitative techniques can be utilized to achieve the same purpose.

This study was a review article that attempted to determine the rationalization that researchers used for different quantitative techniques in their studies of marriage and family therapy. The goal was to determine which techniques are best suited for different purposes. The most common methods used in a variety of different studies was a mixture of the use of surveys and interviews, which were analyzed quantitatively.

The strength of this study is that many different studies were analyzed to determine which techniques should be used in which cases. This is useful to researchers who wish to gain a greater understanding of the techniques that should be used to achieve the specific knowledge in research they wish to gain. A weakness is that only 32 studies were used for data collection, so this analysis could have been more comprehensive.
