As a director of public health, a press release in response to an outbreak of meningitis that has already been documented to claim the lives of several individuals and hospitalization of majority others is a good step in saving the lives of the citizens. The press release will be faxed and emailed to the relevant authorities who will in turn take the appropriate steps to alert the citizens on the seriousness of the outbreak and the need to take appropriate measures to prevent further spread of this outbreak (Taylor, Dittmar, Ballinger& Bruenn, (2011). The press release will be sent to CDC website and all national press and media centers.

Content of the press release

The department of health wishes to raise concern issues concerning a notable outbreak of meningitis, which is a rare infectious disease in this region and the nation as a whole. Majority of the victims who have been proven to be sufferers of this infection have been identified with distinctive assortment of symptoms that closely resemble the signs of stroke, fungal meningitis as well as brain infection. The ministry of health is requesting all the patients who might have undergone some medications in response to the above symptoms to report to the nearest health facilities as there is a need for a careful tracking on an immediate basis. It will be vital to comprehensively identify all victims with this infection with the due urgency required so as preventive measures are taken and appropriate antifungal therapy is applied for the purpose of saving lives.

People under these infections have been linked with a variety of symptoms which cover the range of fever, nausea, cases of headaches, neurological deficits and brain stroke. Some patients however have an indication of relatively mild symptoms
