John Winthrop’s “Model of Christian Charity describes the believes, as well as goals of the Puritans that they must all work together peacefully or else nothing excellent will come out of the new order or colony. The model also explains that Puritans believed that they were chosen by God to assist the Christian society by becoming a model city.

Winthrop and Puritans had an attitude that the success of the community in furthering God’s plan relied on unity and love of its members. On the other hand, Bradford and Separatists had an attitude their allegiance and membership was incompatible with the Church of England and their worship must be organized separately.

Steward used as a concept in Winthrop’s is an important concept because it implied as a society every member should care and love one another as brothers.
