Most Memorable Day in Uniform, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 275

Essay

My most memorable day in uniform was the one when I joined the U.S. Army in 1992. After that I completed Primary Leadership Development Course (PDLC) and attended Officer Candidates School (OCS) for fourteen weeks. While I went through these experiences, I learnt the true essence of team spirit and made the best friends in life whose support I count on to this day. All these memorable experiences started the very day I wore U.S. Army uniform for the first time which is why that day has a special place in my life now.

The time I spent with my Army friends taught me that our uniform is not just our professional identity but it also represents our commitment and loyalty to each other and the country. It may be a piece of clothe but just like flag, it fills us with pride and passion. This uniform defined me more than I could have imagined. Even when I would meet people for the first time, they would expect me to have certain values. Over time I realized that the Army Uniform announces to the outside world that its wearer has proven his commitment to certain values which are held in high regard by our society.

Since that day when I first wore the Army Uniform, I have learnt that men in uniforms have stronger bonds because they assume they will be spending rest of the lives together. Thus, even when we go separate ways, we remain in touch. That day really marks the beginning of a new chapter in my life which has also been the best one and which I hope continues till my last breath.
