Motivation for Choosing Nursing, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 287

Essay

I aspire to become a nurse because I strive to help others and provide them with comfort and compassion in their time of need. Nursing is a complex profession that requires great skill, knowledge, motivation, and compassion in order to achieve success. I believe that I possess the characteristics, demeanor, and skill set to provide care and treatment for patients in a variety of settings. Nursing involves compassion, understanding, empathy, and support for patients as they often face vulnerable circumstances. Therefore, a career path in nursing will allow me to work directly with patients and address their concerns using the tools that are available to perform the required tasks in a manner that is consistent with high quality patient care and treatment.

I am confident that in pursuing a nursing degree, I will acquire the education and knowledge that is necessary to gain licensure and advance my objectives within the nursing profession. However, earning a BSN is only one of several goals, as I anticipate pursuing advanced education in nursing to become a Nurse Practitioner. I believe that my core strengths and talents could support the greater good of the nursing profession and those that require care and treatment. An advanced nursing degree will support my aspirations and allow me to explore new forms of knowledge in order to shape policy, improve decision-making, and impact nursing in a positive manner. These contributions will fulfill my primary objectives to become a nurse practitioner and to advance nursing practice in a positive manner. An advanced skill set is critical to my professional development and growth in the nursing profession; therefore, I am committed to taking the steps that are necessary to achieve these goals and objectives in the coming years.
