The Mummy named Sherit is an ancient artifact of a little child of Egyptian descent. This particular piece was initially owned and put on display by the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum and Planetarium, before being transferred to the Stanford University for imaging analysis. The mummy’s RC number is 22 and has been still wrapped after an approximated 2000 years. Researchers at the Stanford University have carried out imagery analysis to try modeling or simulating the mummy’s features.
It is the mummy of a child girl aged between 4 or 5 years. The team of researchers assigned to analyze this particular piece of artifact resolved that the reason for the girl’s death was unexpected. They came up with this idea given that her body showed no long term disease or telltale signs of trauma. Sherit is considered an unusual mummification because it is an artifact dated back to the times of Christ, for which I personally find to be fascinating. Here’s a snapshot of the artifact.
The mummy previously referred to as Usermontu is an artifact that highlights a mummy from the Upper Class Egyptian Male. The title of the individual is an unknown as well as the family lineage. It was referred to as Usermontu’s coffin because it was initially intended for the priest called Usermontu. The RC number for this particular artifact is 1779. The mummy was completely unwrapped in the coffin. The mummy exhibits qualities that place the individual in the coffin in the New Kingdom, that is, at least 500 years earlier than the coffin that was intended for the mummy in the Usermontu coffin. The time period that the man was mummified was during 1549 – 1069 BCE, or possibly later.
This mummy is different from all the others in the museum by the method of preservation used. This particular mummy in Usermontu’s coffin was completely unwrapped, which still mystifies the museum curators. The mummy that was discovered in the Usermontu’s coffin dates back to 600 B.C. The color of the hair show darker shades of grey. While, the X-rays shows that the mummy has an iron splint that were somehow surgically fixed or embedded in his leg of the mummy. This is what signifies that the mummy had some injuries. The research findings depict that the injuries were most likely after death and were rectified during mummification.
The Usermontu mummy is approximately 6 foot tall or that by a little bit more inches as compared to my height. The curvature of the mummy’s upper back and neck suggest that the individual was from an upper social class. The person might have been probably positioned in an ancestry of royalty. This is also signified by the posture of the crossed arms over the chest which insinuates or implies that the mummy is a royal mummy. Here’s a snapshot of the mummy.
The baboon mummy has an RC number of 2213. The baboons in the Egyptian empire were believed to symbolize the personality of the Egyptian deity Djehuti, the god of record keeping. The baboon mummy is placed in a sitting upright posture with crossed legs at the museum. This mummy was a dedication or an honor to the god of deity Djehuti, the god of record keeping, writing and wisdom. Today he is referred to by his Greek name, Thoth. Surprisingly, the mummy is made out of a jar and wood and not actually a real baboon. The Egyptians believed that the primates were unique from all the other animals in that they had the traditional posture of the Egyptian scribes. Here’s a pictorial snapshot of the baboon mummy:
The mummy named Nesimin is that of a middle aged man on display at the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum. The mummy has an RC number of 1680. The mummy of the Priest, Nesimin dates back to the period of 600 B.C. The individual or man that was mummified was considered to be a scribe and semi-priest named Nesimin. The designs and decorations painted on Neisimin’s coverings imitate the bead nets that were often used to wrap around the mummies in period of the earlier years.
The mummy is approximately 5 feet tall and the additional feature to the coffin is an X-ray pictogram of the mummy’s entire body. The X rayed mummy shows an actual skeleton inside the coffin of the artifact. Even though the eyes are no longer there, the eye sockets are so bright because presumably because during mummification, the eyeballs were usually pushed into the eye sockets then subsequently covered with linen pads.
The mummy named Tahure is that of a 28 year old lady on display at the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum. This notion is derived from her teeth which indicate that she was almost 28 years of age when she died. She, the mummy, dates back to the period of the 26th Dynasty. The X-ray shows that the assumed mummy has a pelvis that is specifically bony taking an epiphyses shape, that is, the union between the area of the bone shaft and it’s both ends. This often meant that the individual was conclusively “bony age” of 26 years or above. Here’s a snapshot of the mummy Tahure.
