My Act of Kindness, Essay Example

Pages: 2

Words: 595

Essay

My parents have been a source of great inspirations to me all along since my early years. When I recognized the great care that they took for me until I could be able to look after myself, I discovered that the best present to pay back to them was an act of kindness. As I grew up, I discovered that my parents had taken keen interest in me to make sure that I grew up as a responsible member of the society. I therefore decided to pay back with an act of kindness of being extremely obedient and royal to my parents. I decided that I would never let my mom engage in tedious chores in the house while I watched. I took it as a personal responsibility to make sure that I ever pleased my mother and dad. I also made sure that, the responsibility of waking my brother in the morning and washing him was taken away from my mother, and I personally took this responsibility.

Every morning, I would remind my mother, father and brother that, the first thing after waking up was to sort divine intervention by way of a prayer. I wished that I could ask God to pour blessings to my parents and give them a long life so that I could continue serving them up to their old age. I was specifically concerned about my mother who was charged with most of the responsibilities of making sure that our household was in order. She was therefore constantly involved in unending chores and this is the reason that I decided that my mother was not supposed to take up all these hard and involving chores. I was always ready to offer a helping hand before I could go and attend to my homework. I made it a principle that, most of these household chores were my responsibility.

My day would start by making a breakfast for the other members of the family, which was commonly considered to be a responsibility of my mother. I considered helping my mother in this work as the best present I could give to her in appreciation of all the care that she gave me since I was very young. I could see that my father expected my mother to perform all these duties by herself while my father just relaxed watching the TV. Although I adored my father deeply and also respected him for taking care of our family, I perceived this as an action of oppression to my mother and thus I took it to myself that, my mother should also join my father at the sitting room and relax as I completed these morning chores in the house. I never tired to repeat the same jobs in the evening after I came home from school.

I also made sure that my younger brother was ever clean and wore clean and smart clothes. I used to observe my mother take this responsibility when I was younger and unable to do the job. Since I discovered that, my mother wanted all of us to stay clean, I took up the responsibility when I attained the age of 12 and I could actively and perfectly do these chores. I learnt that my mother was very impressed by my kindness and support that I offered to the whole family. My father was equally happy and both my parents could not hide the joy they had for my kindness and loyalty to the whole family. In return, my father used to buy some nice things to me every time.
