My Dream Vacation, Research Paper Example

Pages: 3

Words: 877

Research Paper

For my dream vacation, I have chosen a cruise.  The cruise will take place in the Eastern Caribbean area, where there are a lot of fun and exciting destinations.  Also, the cruise will involve a number of activities that can be done while on the ship.  This cruise uses less than the $15,000 allotted, while representing a great deal of luxury and room for miscellaneous expenses, such as ample shopping.

Itinerary

The basic itinerary includes the Eastern Caribbean cruise.  It also involves air travel from my location near where the cruise departs from, including a car shuttle in between. The cruise will take place over seven days, from the 29th of August to the 5th of September.

Traveling

The first part of traveling to reach the cruise is the airfare.  From Greenville, South Carolina, a flight will leave to reach Orlando, Florida, with a connecting stop in Washington, DC (Travelocity). We will arrive in Orlando well before the cruise ship departs, with several hours built in, just in case something happens.

The cruise ship will depart from Port Canaveral. To travel to here from Orlando, we will use a shuttle car that will transfer us to our boarding ship.  With respect to timing, we will arrive in Port Canaveral well before the 4:30 pm start time (Royal Caribbean), seeing as how we will arrive in Orlando at 10:50 am (Travelocity).

After the cruise, we will again use the shuttle car to transfer us to the airport in Orlando.  We will then get on a flight to get us back to South Carolina. There will be a short connecting stop in Detroit, Michigan.

Destinations

The Eastern Caribbean cruise will take place on Royal Caribbean’s Freedom of the Seas ship.  We will stay in the luxurious Owner’s Suite area of the ship, on Deck Ten (Royal Caribbean). The cruise will take place over seven days, with a few completely on board the ship.

The cruise will allow us to see three destinations that are included in the Eastern Caribbean cruise from Royal Caribbean.  The first of these is Cococay, Bahamas on the second day of the cruise.  The fourth day of the cruise will dock in Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas.  The final destination will take place on the fourth day of the cruise, in Philipsburg, St. Maarten.  The first, third, and final three days of the cruise will not involve any destinations, apart from beginning and ending the cruise in Port Canaveral, Florida.

Attractions

The first destination is one of the reasons that I want to go on this cruise.  Little Stirrup Cay was renamed Cococay by Royal Caribbean, making it one of the first cruise lines to lease an island for their exclusive use (Miami Herald).  This exciting island includes a number of fun activities, such as kayaking, scuba diving, snorkeling, swimming, and Waverunning.  This is something that would appeal to me on such a cruise.

In Charlotte Amalie, the next destination offers a lot to the cruise as well.  It is a popular tourist attraction, where it was once a haven for pirates.  I think that this would be a great way to see some sights in the area, as there are a number of historical buildings.  As always, there should be some great opportunities to get some shopping done here.

The final destination is Philipsburg, St. Maarten.  This city is known for how close aircrafts are able to be seen as they enter into Princess Juliana International Airport.  Apart from this, Philipsburg is known for a number of shops in its shopping district, which is known as Front Street.

Finally, rough of the cruise will be while on the cruise ship.  According to Royal Caribbean, shopping, ice skating, spa, rock climbing, casino, wine tasting, shows, and other activities take place on the cruise ship.  There will certainly be enough activities to keep me and my guest entertained.

Overall there is certainly not just one destination in this vacation.  This represents the appeal to me, where I will be able to enjoy a few interesting locations in the Caribbean.  We will also get to enjoy the exciting and relaxing aspects of our vacation aboard the cruise ship.  Even items like shopping can be done while on and off the ship, making is a versatile vacation according to what we’re in the mood to do while on our trip.

Conclusion

The cruise aboard the Royal Caribbean ship will be extremely exciting.  The Eastern Caribbean cruise will allow me and my guest to see a number of sights along the Caribbean, while enjoying the comforts and activities aboard the ship. Sports, dining, relaxation, shopping, and other activities will make this a pleasant trip.

The trip comes out to just over $13,000, making it well under the allotted $15,000 of dream vacation money.  This would provide a lot of versatility to enjoy some of the more expensive activities, such as shopping and fine dining.  The vacation even includes comfortable accommodations in transportation as well.  With a few changes, this versatile could even include a mini-vacation in Orlando if we so desired with the extra money.  Overall, this dream vacation would certainly be very enjoyable and interesting.
