My Personal Investment in Barclay’s, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 292

Essay

I can honestly express a sentiment likely not ordinary; that is, the idea of working in investment banking excites me, and on multiple levels.  One, to begin with, is specific and involves the challenge of an IBD as it exists within Barclay’s.  The prestige and established integrity of the bank translate to higher standards in IB, and I am not motivated to pursue anything less; the work is simply too important in both individual and commercial terms.  Then, the skill of the investment specialists at Barclay’s goes to inestimable learning opportunities for myself.  As the bank boasts the most experienced and expert investment staff, my potentials in improvement – and innovation – will be all the greater.  On a more general level, the field itself commands both my energies and my ambitions.  I want to explore how capital market promotes the efficient allocation of resources, and so potently drives the American economy; comprehend the relationship between investments and corporate finance; learn negotiation skills with lawyers and accountants, improve in valuing assets, and assist in maximizing the company’s core competitiveness and shareholder value through acquisition.  In short, virtually every facet of IB is compelling to me, and I am eager to develop within the field through “investment” of myself in Barclay’s.

Allow me to add that I would not seek to make this investment were I not convinced of my complete suitability for the position and the company.  I am confident, but my own competitive edge drives me to simultaneously persevere and excel in new challenges.  Fueling all of this is a genuine enthusiasm, because I enjoy the learning and the work.  Ultimately, I firmly believe that investing myself in Barclay’s IBD will be rewarding, and inestimably so, to myself and to the organization.
