My Scariest Day as a Teenager, Essay Example

Pages: 2

Words: 577

Essay

It was a bright morning when I woke up, ready to go to school. The day was rather unusual, and the summer rays of the sun were shining over the buildings across the streets like infrared rays directed from a high-technology nuclear weapon. Perhaps the color of the rays of the sun gave me both excitement and fear of something I did not know. It was just an inner feeling making validity of the first two not be justified.

Suddenly, I heard a loud bang from the door. I quickly remembered that I was alone at home and my parents had left earlier. “who could it be?” I asked myself in a quiet tone. “Perhaps it is my dad coming to pick something?” I concluded. Then I remembered my dad has a habit of using the front door and hardly even did he know there was a back door.

Before I would make up my mind on what to do next, I heard loud footsteps coming towards by bedroom, followed by a sound which seemed like a big metallic machete being dragged due to its massive weight. “Perhaps the owner cannot even lift it,” I compared my feeble strength to the stranger. The next thing I saw was a giant size man standing right in front of me, staring at me with scary eyes. I said to myself,” this one has just taken several rolls of marijuana right before approaching my doorstep.

I could not understand my feelings, a mixture of humor and fear clouded my mind. I knew what had befallen me and it was my responsibility to deliver myself from the situation. “ Escape through the window,” something told me. I immediately remembered the only available exit was the window, yet I was ten floors high.

“You have to give me what I want,” he told me with angry voice. “I am as poor as a church mouse; I do not have any money with me,” I replied. I was just a child and did not have a stable source of income. All I depended on was my parent’s money for sustenance. I was not the type of child that would investigate where my parents kept their money, so I did not have a clue of where they kept their money. Before I could utter any word to him, he pulled out a silvery Knife and roared, “ If you don’t give me all the money in this house, you are going to pay it with your life.” That is when  I cursed my existence in that house. I thought I was a character in one of the scariest horror films ever produced by the Hollywood studios.

As everything grew tense, I saw my pet walking fearlessly into the room. “Does the cat know the trouble it is getting into?” I told myself referring to the cat. Then I realized that courage is not the absence of fear but the ability to carry on despite the presence of fear. Then I employed the hypothesis about a cat and its seven lives and remembered that all was not lost. I secretly moved behind, picked one of my soccer shoes, and threw it at the monster, making him drop both the knife and the machete, and then he fell. Before I could pick the weapons, he surpassed me and picked them ready to strike me. Before he could land the first strike of the machete on me, the police stormed the room.
